| Just got done watching Transformers. My mantra for it was like Die Hard, "Dialogue and plot will be lame, action will be cool or at least fun to watch." The plot, well, it's Transformers, so, can't really judge it on that. The dialogue and characters were worse than lame. The action was sometimes cool. I would've gave it a 'meh' status if not for when the S7 people started showing up. Holy christ, that made the movie worse. If they focused more-so on the Transformers themselves [and not having them all randomly appear at once when it was 'convenient'] and the action, the movie could've been win. Sigh, Bay fails once again, and so did those screenplay writers. With a better director and writers this movie could've been epic, it had so much potential. 5% cool and 95% BUH.
Oh yeah, last time I forgot to mention Simpsons Movie. Very meh. I miss the glory days of the Simpsons, just let the series go already, Matt, focus on the reemergence of Futurama instead. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Been awhile. This summer has been one, long day for me. I have no concept of date or time. My short-term and long-term memory has been completely shot. But it'll all come hither once again soon, as school starts again in a couple of weeks. All I dread is working out a room switch so I'm in the same room as my friend Jimmy. Aside from that, smooth sailing.
I've been putting off writing the script for one idea I've had since the day I left last semester. But I had an easy idea and make a short script out of that recently. Which I'm pretty much happy with now with tweaking here and there, and would really like to make it as it would be extremely simple to film and require no budget. Finding good actors, however.. Either way, someone made a comment on the video I made for my TV production final last semester that says, "i could hav thought of a better idea for a movie while i was asleep." I just find that ironic, considering that the script I wrote recently and my other idea I both came up with when I was trying to fall asleep.
I had to cancel my WoW subscription recently due to lowering funds. But I'm finally getting back my housing deposit from last year so I can renew it when I get that. I've watched a lot of movies recently, mostly thanks to tv links. Let's see if I can remember all of them..War of the Worlds [the Spielberg remake, I enjoyed it], Being John Malkovich [Awesome movie, great concept], Hellboy [same director as Pan's Labyrinth, it was meh], Monty Python: The Meaning of Life [Monty Python is win], Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels [not as awesome as Snatch, but awesome], Live Free or Die Hard [meh, but wasn't as bad as I was expecting], some short movie called Zombie Movie [only slightly entertaining, interesting concept], Matrix Revolutions [meh, wish they ditched all the intellectual bullshit and just went straight to the final war between the humans and machines, some of that was pretty cool, and lol@DBZ battle at the end]..let's see, what else.
I saw Bourne Ultimatum in the theaters yesterday (or the day before?), very good movie and end to the trilogy, the shaky cam was a little overdone in this one but it didn't annoy or distract me as much as it did many other people. I just got done watching Mr. Bean's Holiday. I used to rent episodes of Mr. Bean on VHS back in the day, and when I saw the commercial for the new movie a week back I was like ">:O". The first Bean movie was disappointing since it was 'lolfamilycomedywithspecialappearancebyMr.Beanwherehedoesskitsfromtheshow'. But this one had new content [On my /b/ean!? More likely than you'd think.], and I giggled all the way through it. Willem Dafoe was in it, which was funny. And there was another guy in it I recognized, I looked him up on imdb and he was in Hellboy [Rasputin] and Bourne Supremacy [some agent, I think the one that dies in the final car chase scene, don't recall]. And he will be in Guy Ritchie's next movie that's in filming, RocknRolla. Which brings me back to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels; Jason Statham. Stick to Ritchie's projects. Kthxbye.
Oh, I also downloaded and watched 1408 [not a cam version, but a 'screener dvd' version], it was made of epic and win. Pretty fucking intense at times, had my heart beating wondering what kind of awesomeness would happen next. And I also saw another movie the other day called Session 9. It was not made of win. It was made of an okay concept that was executed poorly, paced terribly, and had David Caruso in it. The greatest scene was an epic camera zoom on Caruso where he was pointing and yells, "No, fuck YOU!"
I downloaded and played the demo for Bioshock today. Wowza', win win win win. I think I like it more than The Darkness already just based on this demo. I absolutely love the concept, the presentation, and the gameplay. Another game I was looking forward to had its demo released today as well, John Woo's Stranglehold. Let's just say I'm no longer looking forward to it. It's a boring and repetitive action-shooter that has bullet-time with no extra concept attached to it...So, it's Max Payne with the Chinese, but even worse. The AI is so god-damned fucking retarded, it just runs out into the open and stands there shooting at you. And no matter what, if you run into ANY flat surface, you'll do this stupidly lame 'slide-over-surface' thing. It just looks ridiculous. Off my gamefly list you go.
Hey, speaking of Gamefly. I had a random thought last night while trying to fall asleep, about the part in Metal Gear Solid where you have to codec Meryl but you don't know her frequency. So you look at the back of the case of the game and viola, there it is! Ohh, you tricky dicky Kojima. But what if the game came out in the era of Gamefly? You'd be fucked, especially if you have no internet, or your internet is down [and that has happened to me with Super Mario 64, I was playing it because the internet was down and I got so fucking pissed while playing it, and got even more pissed when I couldn't figure something out, fucking haunted mansion..], and your phone isn't working, and you've run all out of ketchup! PISS.
Hm..well..I'm going to go watch Pink Floyd's The Wall while Transformers downloads..here's the stupid final project I made, by the way, just silly fun.
